First Lap

[Voice]

[...This book is so, so weird. She's still not comfortable talking into the thing and she's only done it twice so far. But, might as well leap right into the fire. Being impulsive isn't quite her thing, but hesitating isn't either]

Is this working...? Yeah, I think so- Good evening everyone. I just arrived yesterday and I thought I should introduce myself; my name's Asami. [...] And... if anyone wants to help me with a few things I'd really appreciate that.

[She's sure the people in the Avatar cast could help her with most of these too, but she's imposing enough by having slept in Sokka's room last night (reducing him to the couch) and she needs to figure out a few things here like somewhere else to stay, new wardrobe, her gauntlet, all that stuff.]

Other than that, does anyone like sports? I'm fond of racing and probending, myself.

[...there, that's a conversation starter too.

Bonus Action: While she's looking for people to do it with her, either way she'll be hitting up All Passions, the Item Shop, looking for a room in Community Building 5, and surveying the houses around the Avatar House (56)]

Good question. I haven't been here for as long as that thing has, but I've heard it used to be restricted to only combat programs. I'm not sure what happened to change it, but it's really cool for those of us who aren't fighters or soldiers.

It really is, considering that no one's been able to get a motorized vehicle working in this place. Even if they did...we have no roads!

You can thank our kind 'benefactors' for that. I blame Shifts, personally. There's probably a few different theories for why we have electricity depending on who you talk ti.

...be glad we even have that. Apparently it's also a relatively recent addition.

[He laughs gently at her surprise, but is himself not as shocked. Though a man who liked the comforts of society, he was more than familiar with 'roughing it.']

I've only been here for eight months, cherie. Power was here when I dropped in, but it wasn't here back when our local history picks up...about five, six years ago. I'm not sure when it came online.

But yeah, it must have been very unpleasant to live here.]

It's the same in my world, but people do it every day. There are people who have been here for years, you know. This, really, isn't that bad.

This world is very gray, so you can't rely on conventional definitions of 'good' and 'bad.' It just...is, and we have to deal with the consequences of it.

The line between 'good' and 'bad' blurs too much for comfort sometimes, especially when a sudden experiment throws you in association with people you would never dream of ever talking to. Some of my closest friends here are people I would never have associated with back home because we're too different...but, you know? It's not bad.

I don't particularly like it here, but things have happened that have made it hard to be terribly angry about it.

It is, but it's not bad. Plenty of people would rather stay here than go home, and they have very good reasons too.

...think of it like this, if you're worried. You'll have the chance to meet people you'll never have a chance to meet in your home.

So you all ready know some of the high points then.

You'll come to get used to it eventually. It can be kinda nice here sometimes.
redjacketthief: (-glasses- would you look at that?)

You're welcome, Asami-chan. Let me know whenever you want to set that track up, and I can show you a few tricks.

It's Arsene Lupin III, though just calling me Lupin is fine.

I eagerly await meeting you in person for a race.
