You would. Because of Korra, they actually made official rules about the Avatar competing: they're only allowed to use one element and the refs need to be told which one ahead of time. Using any of the other's a penalty for her.

That sounds fair. And I can't use Airbending... my next best is Waterbending. Or maybe I could try Earthbending. Do I have to do the same one in every match?

In a league or a tournament you'd need to register as one type of bender - Korra registered as a waterbender, for example. But if we ever got matches going here... I don't think there's anywhere near enough benders for a league. So I don't see why not?

Thanks, that sounds really good! And that way we could do different teams for different matches. [The idea of making a team with the other Avatars just sounds really cool - but he also wants to play alongside his other friends.] It can be a whole lot of fun.

And Roku! So that's five. But we'd need one more, right, for two teams? And Roku hasn't finished his Avatar training, so it'd have to be a Water or Earthbender.

So we're one short of a full team. [Can't count Ikki or Jinora, after all]

I guess we are, unless we can think of ways to include others. There are a lot of people here with powers that are like bending, after all. But either way, it's still fun to think about.

The "including other powers" a little strange for me to think of right now - but you're right, it sounds fun.

It could. There's a bunch of different ways to think about it. The only way for us to really do it would be to wish for another Waterbender or Earthbender to end up here, and no one should wish for anyone to be in this place.

Not that I'm doubting her abilities, but in probending the earthbenders are only allowed to bend the supplied Earth Discs, and have to aim them are their opponents by throwing them using their bending. Also the arena floor generally... isn't made of Earth.

Agreed - if we actually did this, we'd have to figure out a way to make it easier for Toph.

Come to think of it, Katara might have a lot of fouls too, for the same reason Korra did when she started out. Probending does demand a pretty different style to the old forms.

It does, huh? We might just all need help adjusting if that's the case. Is it really that different?

To be honest, I'm not super familiar with old forms so I couldn't go into nuances, but just some of the basics - no streams of fire or water, no use of water in any form but a liquid, and fire or earth can't aim for the head - stand out to me.

I guess that makes sense. I can keep that in mind next time I practice. And hey, you're always welcome to stop by bending practice, and maybe it can give you a better idea of how the forms are different. [It's a little weird to think of the forms changing over time - what was wrong with them the way the are? - but if it was just to keep this game safe, he feels understanding.]
