First Lap

[...This book is so, so weird. She's still not comfortable talking into the thing and she's only done it twice so far. But, might as well leap right into the fire. Being impulsive isn't quite her thing, but hesitating isn't either]

Is this working...? Yeah, I think so- Good evening everyone. I just arrived yesterday and I thought I should introduce myself; my name's Asami. [...] And... if anyone wants to help me with a few things I'd really appreciate that.

[She's sure the people in the Avatar cast could help her with most of these too, but she's imposing enough by having slept in Sokka's room last night (reducing him to the couch) and she needs to figure out a few things here like somewhere else to stay, new wardrobe, her gauntlet, all that stuff.]

Other than that, does anyone like sports? I'm fond of racing and probending, myself.

[...there, that's a conversation starter too.

Bonus Action: While she's looking for people to do it with her, either way she'll be hitting up All Passions, the Item Shop, looking for a room in Community Building 5, and surveying the houses around the Avatar House (56)]

They're... well, they're so omnipresent that it's hard for me to explain them, really. They're anything alive that isn't a human or a stationary plant, basically.

[...ani...mals...?????]

Fighting alongside them, really. Only really awful trainers just sit back and expect their Pokemon to do everything for them.

Oh, of course. In the official tournaments, there are plenty of rules to keep things from getting out of hand. Really, though, both humans and Pokemon can take more of a beating than you'd expect them to be able to and still come out fine.

Well, I'm not going to doubt you, but I've survived some pretty rough fights in my time.

I've won a few in my day. They say I'm pretty good.

Well, there are seventeen types of Pokemon, each with their own particular advantages and disadvantages against other types. For example, a Fire Pokemon could easily defeat a Grass Pokemon but would have difficulty facing a Water Pokemon. Most Trainers tend to raise a team consisting of multiple types for that reason, but some only focus on one type in order to gain a more complete understanding of the nuances of that type.

I would be one of those people. My focus is the Ground type.

Yes, they do-generally, it's pretty obvious what kinds of powers a Pokemon will have, although they usually have some abilities that don't match up to their type.

Well, there's Normal, Grass, Water, Fire, Electric, Ground, Rock, Steel, Psychic, Flying, Dragon, Dark, Bug, Fighting, Ice, Poison, and Ghost.

[oh god asami honey i am so sorry he has started and he won't stop]

Actually, that would be Water, though Normal comes in second.

I guess you can say it's the most "neutral" type. No type is weak to it, only two resist it, and it's only weak against one other type. It and Ghost are mutually immune to each other, as well. Furthermore, practically all Pokemon learn at least one Normal-type move, and for the most part, Normal-type moves aren't particularly flashy.
