[She's sure the people in the Avatar cast could help her with most of these too, but she's imposing enough by having slept in Sokka's room last night (reducing him to the couch) and she needs to figure out a few things here like somewhere else to stay, new wardrobe, her gauntlet, all that stuff.]

Other than that, does anyone like sports? I'm fond of racing and probending, myself.

You make a good point. All the ages here are really mixed up. I don't even have a beard yet! But it's still kinda interesting to know what life'll be like in the future. Can you tell me more about this probending thing?

It'd be my honor. Probending's a popular sport that's attracted a huge fanbase in Republic City. Teams from all over the world come to compete, particularly in the year tournament.

Anyway... It consists of two teams of three benders: an earthbender, firebender, and waterbender. The goal is for either team to force their opponents back through different zones of the playing field each round or to knock them off the field entirely. ...It might be easier to show you if I make a drawing of the field though, wouldn't it? Hold on.

[He listens intently, trying to take in every detail. It's weird to think of a bending sport being such a phenomenon. Even airball was just a fun game for young airbenders, and Earth Rumble was pretty... underground. Of course there isn't any space for airbenders, but he felt he should have seen that coming.]

Alright, here's the field. [In voice] Notice how there's three zones in each team's half of the field. [Well it looks like four, given the center circle, but trust her, it's three] The goal, like I said, is the knock back the other team. If you knock a player on the other team back from zone one into zone two [And she now realizes she should label the zone numbers, so she does that] that player can't leave zone two. If you knock the whole team back into zone two, then you gain territory and advance into the other team's zone one.

Do you follow so far?

[He blinks and tries to process it all.]

That's a bunch of zones, but... yeah, I think I get the idea.

In a match, there's three rounds. Each round's won by whichever team gains the most territory within the time limit for the round. Then the match is won by whoever wins the most rounds. But, you can also win by knockout: that is, knocking the whole opponent's team out of the arena [...remembering that error Korra made in her first match] off the back past zone three in a single round.

It does sound pretty fun... And it's safe, right?

Of course. There's a lot more rules than what I've describing to regulate everything.

I'd like to try it, then, sometime. I- I guess I'd just have to pick an element.

You would. Because of Korra, they actually made official rules about the Avatar competing: they're only allowed to use one element and the refs need to be told which one ahead of time. Using any of the other's a penalty for her.

That sounds fair. And I can't use Airbending... my next best is Waterbending. Or maybe I could try Earthbending. Do I have to do the same one in every match?

In a league or a tournament you'd need to register as one type of bender - Korra registered as a waterbender, for example. But if we ever got matches going here... I don't think there's anywhere near enough benders for a league. So I don't see why not?

Thanks, that sounds really good! And that way we could do different teams for different matches. [The idea of making a team with the other Avatars just sounds really cool - but he also wants to play alongside his other friends.] It can be a whole lot of fun.

Well there's Toph, you, the Fire Lord... [...not that she met him. She hesitates to say Roku but there's him] Katara...

And Roku! So that's five. But we'd need one more, right, for two teams? And Roku hasn't finished his Avatar training, so it'd have to be a Water or Earthbender.

So we're one short of a full team. [Can't count Ikki or Jinora, after all]

I guess we are, unless we can think of ways to include others. There are a lot of people here with powers that are like bending, after all. But either way, it's still fun to think about.

The "including other powers" a little strange for me to think of right now - but you're right, it sounds fun.

Just thought I'd suggest it! You're the expert here, I wouldn't want to mess it up by changing it too much.

I can't know it until I see it! But that would be pretty cool if there were like enough things to include everyone.

It could. There's a bunch of different ways to think about it. The only way for us to really do it would be to wish for another Waterbender or Earthbender to end up here, and no one should wish for anyone to be in this place.

I agree. [...About not wishing people here. But... yeah. Maybe adapting the sport later would be a thing if she didn't leave. Frown] About not wishing people here. [A beat] Besides, Toph might have some difficulty with probending anyway.
